I've been neglecting the blog lately...

for numerous reasons:

* Personal Life Crises

* Goal Setting

* Change in Workout Perspective & Goals

But, I'm not going to neglect it anymore. So you're going to get to join me again on my random journey through fitness, training, and diet. Some of you care, some don't. Those that don't can still leave their comments.

I've dedicated the month of November to a lean-out diet and a focus on strength training. I'm still riding, just not going to start heavy LSD/base until December. I have my reasons...and I'll highlight them as this old blog continues. So anyway...here's today's workout:

Warmup - 5 minutes on treadmill, 15 grade, 2.8 mph

Military Press: 3x8x12; 3x6x15 (did these first as shoulders are my weak spot and wanted to do them fresh)

Good Mornings: 5x6x55

Vertical Chest Press: 5x6x60

Low Cable Row: 5x7x55

Standing Cable Straight Arm Shoulder Stuff: 3x8x25 (each arm)

Triceps Press: 5x7x80

Lat Pulldowns: 5x6x60

DB Concentration Curls: 5x5x12 (both arms)

Cool Down: 5 minutes treadmill, 15 grade, 2.8 mph

My legs were feeling pretty tight from Tuesday...so I just did the good mornings, and opted out of my planned step ups. Will do those Saturday.

Glad to be back...hope at least some of you are glad to see me!

I'm glad to see you :-)

I'm going to start strength training in December and it's much needed. My upper body is so, so weak!

Welcome back! Sounds like an awesome strength training program. As the lifters say, you're going to get HUGE! Well, at least you'll be in great shape. I hope to head back to the weight room soon.

Hashi...

Because it was a lifting day, not a cardio day. 15 is the highest grade possible, so it was just a leg stretcher and cool down.

Also I'm on a hypertrophic diet for the remainder of the month...so I'm keeping the workouts shorter.

Thanks for asking!

What the heck is a hypertrophic diet?
Does that mean you can't eat hyper trophies? Or M&Ms? Or pizza? Cause if I does, then I'm out.

No, Hashi. I'm not on a soy diet. I'm well aware of the detriments too much soy can have on the system.

Hashi, what certification did you get to be at PT in Pakistan?

will somebody please tell me what a "hypertrophic diet" is?

definition of hyper is:

prefix, beyond, over, above; usually implying excess or exaggeration.

definition of trophic is:

Pertaining to nutrition or to a position in a food web, food chain, or food pyramid

Add the word diet in there and you get a definition of:

exaggerated food diet

go figure ;-)

I'm starting a new program myself, tomorrow morning. I'm going to be working with a few other people at work under the guidance of our security officer aka former drill sergeant. Should be fun.
